The importance of backing up cloud services

The “cloud,” the so-called data cloud, has entered our everyday lives and we hardly noticed. Born to provide services to businesses and public administrations, it has made its way out of servers and into our smartphones and tablets that now exchange information with data centers located all over the world. In a nutshell, they “save” our data such as birthday party photographs or the shopping list we just filled out on our smartphones in the memory of a server. The advantage is that this data can be shared on all our devices, and in case we lose the smartphone we will have a backup copy of the data. Undoubtedly convenient, but all that glitters is not gold, because although it is often described to us as a foolproof system, the cloud can also fail. Sure, losing your shopping list is no big deal, but think about all those companies and public administrations that base their business and management of their services on the cloud. Mind you, moving services to the cloud is a strategic move to be taken seriously, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be problems. And this is where it gets extremely serious, because if your company’s mail server is on the cloud, or that service that is so important to you runs on a virtual machine, even a trivial problem in the hosting infrastructure could compromise data essential to your business.

Securing data

In cases such as these, it becomes apparent how critical“cloud service backup” is. HyperGrid can come to your aid with its yCloud Backup service:
Hypergrid staff can provide free agents (software to be installed on your computer/server/device) to automatically back up data that is critical to you in the yCloud infrastructure, which is AGID certified . Even if you already have a backup service, having a second one located on a different infrastructure provides security that should not be underestimated, especially for “disaster recovery” procedures. The services supported by HyperGrid are many: they range from the backup of virtual machines in the vmware esxy environment, Microsoft Azure, Virtuozzo, as well as Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) or the valuable corporate data contained in MS Exchange servers, Office 365 mail and Gmail mail. There is also no shortage of management for data from Microsoft’s Active Directory network services and Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases. Hypergrid is also able to migrate between different hypervisors and to/from physical machines. As a reminder, all backups are managed in the redundant network security (AS39250) of HyperGrid yCloud
